KYCC-WiC Call for Participation: Deadline March 1, 2017
We invite the submission of proposals for participation in the following categories:
Panel Presentations: A presentation by 2-5 panelists to share their perspective on a topic. Panel sessions are 45 minutes. Include the names of each panelist in the proposal submission.
Flash Talks:15-minute mini-presentations on research, special projects, and retention/recruitment strategies. The presentation should be understandable and inspiring to students at all levels (high school, community college, undergraduate, and graduate levels). Submissions accepted from faculty and industry leaders.
Student Short Talks: 5-10 minute discussion of a research project, internship, community service, or experiential learning activity. This is an opportunity for students to gain experience presenting at a conference and sharing their experience with others and to inspire others to pursue similar opportunities. Submissions accepted from students at all levels.
Workshops:All attendees are invited to submit a proposal for a 45-minute workshop. (It is possible to have two 45-minute time slots but please include this request in the abstract description of the proposal.) Within the abstract, include what resources are needed and what materials participants are expected to bring.
Student Posters: Students are encouraged to submit posters on research, class projects, internships, community service, and experiential learning activities. The poster session allows students to discuss their work with conference attendees in an informal setting. The goal is for students to gain experience and confidence in public speaking while discussing their work. Posters should be no larger than 24”x36”. Community College, Undergraduate, and Graduate posters will be judged separately. Here are great tips on how to prepare a conference poster:
